Crisis Support

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline offers 24/7, free, confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals.

Trans Lifeline runs a hotline for transgender people staffed by transgender people.

Trevor Project provides trained counseling via text, chat, and phone, particularly for people under the age of 25.

Veterans Crisis Line—you can call, chat online, or text. They have support for deaf and hard of hearing individuals.

National Organizations, Projects, and Resources

The Icarus Project offers support and education by and for people who experience the world in ways often diagnosed as mental illness.

MentalHealth.gov from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services offers information and a treatment locator.

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. They offer additional resources tailored for:

National Institute of Mental Health has ways to get immediate help; to find a health care provider or treatment; to participate in a clinical trial; to find resources for service members, veterans, and their families; and to learn more about mental disorders.

SAMHSA, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, has resources to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on both individuals and communities.

StopBullying.gov has information about spotting and stopping bullying. The information is for kids, teens, parents, and educators.
